Coheed and Cambria - Number City

Directed for progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria, Number City is a handcrafted stop-motion music video set within a surreal vintage medical theatre. Produced in just six weeks from concept to final delivery, the film combines practical animation, miniature sets, anatomical props and tactile visual effects to create a dreamlike narrative of loss, repair and rebirth.

Inspired by antique medical equipment, curiosity cabinets and early scientific illustration, the visual language was developed from an original treatment that transformed the song's themes into a symbolic surgical journey. Every sequence was animated frame by frame using practical stop-motion techniques, with bespoke bear puppets created by the incredibly talented Cat Rabbit. The original concept centred on a plush patient undergoing an impossible operation, where organs became metaphors for human emotion before the character was ultimately brought back to life.
